Cocktails With: Bella Blue

We caught up with Bella Blue, the beauty behind the New Orleans School of Burlesque, to find out how she gets her incredible figure and why she never pictures anyone in the crowd naked…

TIDBITS: What can girls expect to learn in your burlesque class?
BELLA BLUE: In class I cover everything from basic bump and grind techniques (glove peels, stocking peels, boa work) to how to unleash your stage presence and develop your character. We do a short warm up and then move onto choreography. I then split the class up into groups where you are able to “perform” for each other and really work what you’ve learned.

TIDBITS: Your body is stunning. What kind of workout regimen and diet do you stick to for staying in tip-top burlesque shape?
BELLA BLUE: I really love yoga, but also take pole classes which has by far been the best workout I’ve ever tried. Plus, I like hanging upside down! And just because it’s in my soul, I take dance classes when I have time. Mostly ballet classes but I will take any style of dance if my schedule allows.

TIDBITS: Do you ever get stage fright?
BELLA BLUE: I don’t get stage fright but I definitely get anxious before I do a new act. I feel the most at home on the stage actually! It’s my playground. But when I am premiering a new act, I am nothing but a bunch of nerves!

TIDBITS: What’s the secret to leaving your inhibitions behind the curtain before a performance? Do you picture the crowd naked?
BELLA BLUE: Getting on the stage is cathartic for me and actually it’s easier for me to throw caution to the wind on stage rather than off stage. Rather than picturing the crowd naked, I really behave as if I am trying to seduce each and every one of them!

TIDBITS: What would people be surprised to know about you?
BELLA BLUE: That I have insecurities just like everyone else…and that I could live on chips and salsa alone!

TIDBITS: What do you do to get in the mood for a performance?
BELLA BLUE: I am ALWAYS in the mood for a performance! I think the hard part is getting in the mood to not perform and relax.

TIDBITS: When you’re dressed in street clothes, what is your typical outfit/style?
BELLA BLUE: I always say that I am kind of fashion-challenged. If it’s not doused in sequins and glitter, I have no idea what looks good! I tend to wear a lot of black. Mainly skinny jeans with ballet flats and some sort of comfy top. I’m a big fan of funny printed t-shirts. I also am cold a lot so I like to wear wraps and cardigans that are more like wearable blankets!

TIDBITS: If you were a cocktail, which would you be and why?
BELLA BLUE: This is a tough one! But, I think that if I had to narrow it down I’d pick a Hot Toddy. I’m sweet and strong with a hint of spicy. Best served piping hot and enjoyed right before bed ;)

Take classes from Bella Blue at half off!
