When it comes time to signing the guestbook at a vacation spot you fell in love with, it can be a struggle to put your feelings into words.
In the case of Southern designer David Peck, so deep did he fall in love with the Crescent City that he chose to toast us not with pen, but with needle and thread. His new Crescent Rising collection of playful cocktail dresses have been gracing red carpets and TV sets as a wearable tribute to the sights of NOLA.
His inspiration stems from an 1891 Mardi Gras invitation, friezes from the Hotel Monteleone, the inside of a Zapp’s bag, memories of Commander’s Palace and photos he took himself at Audubon Park. Prettily patterned and printed, yellows and oranges mix for a taste of Port Sulphur and bright blues pop with a take on the Vacherie community.
Thank you, David. Come back swoon.
