Over the past 30 days you have:
Lost and gained the same five pounds three times. Sworn to give up caffeine, yet your recycling bin is overflowing with PJ’s cups. Attempted to unclutter your gmail – which is still at 126 unread messages.
In comparison, local lovely Rebecca Rebouché managed to create a 40 piece spring collection in just a month’s time. Entitled “Wonder,” the series features a mixed media selection of original paintings on canvas. Painting mostly during the magic hour each day, the dreamy artist and Anthropologie darling took herself on an imaginary journey to places like Frida Kahlo’s Mexico, Semana Santa in Antigua and the beaches of Todos Santos to provide new inspiration for her usual cast of birds, butterflies, dresses, trees and boats.
The five pounds might come and go, but your commitment to broken promises is here to stay.
Get a sneak peek at the new collection TOMORROW, Wednesday, April 25th, from 6 – 7 p.m., at Rebouché’s studio, The Beauty Shop (map), before she packs up her pieces to take them to Tent K at the Contemporary Crafts area at Jazz Fest (first weekend only). Her stuff goes fast—so get there early!

Get geared up for the fest with a night of cocktailing and storytelling at the Davenport Lounge at The Ritz THIS Thursday, April 26th. On tap: Jeremy Davenport to host the official book launch of Groove Interrupted: Loss, Renewal and the Music of New Orleans by Keith Spera, award-winning music writer for The Times-Picayune. Arrive at 5:30 p.m. for the reading/signing, and then stick around for live music from 7 – 9 p.m. FREE and open to the public.
