Hand Grenades. The Cat’s Meow. Traipsing around in a condom tiara down Bourbon. Although we can appreciate the tried and true bachelorette rotation, there are other ways to commemorate the end of singledom in the Crescent City. Check out Tidbits’ Guide to Hosting a Bachelorette Party in New Orleans. We’ve got you covered on where to bond the first night, ideas per neighborhood for your full night of freedom and even theme party ideas. NOLA, show us your brides!
Bonding Time With Your Gals
Your bachelorette party is a mix of friends new and old. Ward off the awkward getting to know you moments at Avery Fine Perfumerie, where the gals can all chip in and chime in to develop a perfume that suits the lady of the hour’s personality, aka Jessica is down to earth, so let’s infuse some bergamot.
Uptown Girl:
Live it up amongst the lingerie and lace during a private party at House of Lounge. The purveyors of all things pretty will arrange for a burlesque class for beginners, light bites and cocktails. For an after-party drink, cab it to Oak Wine Bar to sip amongst the sleek and chic decor, or keep it sexy with an aperitif at Boulingy Tavern.
Absinthe Makes The Heart Grow Fonder:
Whether you want a memorable night you won’t forget, or a forgettable night you shouldn’t remember, consider absinthe your answer. Start with a visit to the Southern Food and Beverage Institute to check out all the cool tools at the current exhibit. Then arrange for a private absinthe tasting at sexy Pravda. After opening gifts at the back patio space, head off to dinner at the Green Goddess to keep the green theme alive.
Turn Bywater Into Wine
If your gal loves to swing from the grapevines, make a stop at Bacchanal for a Bywater-style bachelorette to select wines and cheese that reflect the bride-to-be’s taste (her honeymoon is in Florence and France, so only go with Italian reds and brie cheeses). When you’re ready for a meal but not starving (there could be a wait), cab it over to the newly opened Maurepas Foods to share a carafe of vino and a slightly sobering meal of hearty local cuisine.
Will You Marigny Me?
Start your night out light with a few sips and shared apps at crowded cocktail joint Three Muses. Snag a corner table to hear some live local music. After you’re nice and buzzed, head across the street to Yuki for a sake bomb to seal your fate, and then let your stilettos stumble towards Mimi’s in the Marigny. Head upstairs to break it down to the DJ on the dance floor. And when you need some sustenance, the bar serves up Spanish-style tapas Sunday – Thursday until 2 a.m., and on Friday and Saturday until 4 a.m.
Say I Do To The FQ:
For a French Quarter bachelorette party, snag the just-up-the-stairs back corner seat at EAT. Feeling miles away from the Bourbon Street madness, this little bungalow has a fab menu of entrees and apps (share the blue cheese and fig torte—you won’t regret it). It’s BYOB (corkage fee after first bottle), so pick up some bubbly to take with you. Follow it up with a proper specialty cocktail at Bar Tonique, and then dance off the calories just down the road at the Gold Mine.
