New Orleans is in a collective kumbaya, banded together to open up our hearts and purses to the oil relief effort. Check out some ways you can lend a helping hand to the oil relief effort.
Music makes the people come together.
TONIGHT, Thursday, July 1st, music venues nationwide will be making a coast to coast contribution during the Gulf Coast Benefit with proceeds going to benefit the Gulf Restoration Network. Head over to Tipitina’s Uptown to take in tunes from Galactic, Ivan Neville, Coco Robicheaux, Rotary Downs, Joe Krown Trio (featuring Joe Krown, Walter Wolfman Washington and Russell Batiste), John Gros, We Are One Brass Band and Young Fellaz Brass Band. Snag a $15 ticket. Doors at 8 p.m.
Beer. It does a body (of water) good.
Be on the lookout for the newly launched SOS Abita. The pilsner with a conscience, 75 cents of every beer sold will go towards the SOS Charitable fund to support oil spill relief efforts, and 100% of all merch sold will go to charity. Drink up. Do good.
Wear Our Story
Always on top of the social climate, design company Storyville has launched a Save Our Coast tee. For every stylishly symbolic tshirt sold, Storyville will donate $5 to the Gulf Coast Oil Spill Fund.
Handmade Help
See etsy. Shop etsy. Support etsy’s effort to save our coast. Members of this favorite DIY site have banned together to form a Help the Gulf Coast e-store. An amazing amount of etsy sellers have donated their items so that 100% of the proceeds can be given to charity.
In other event news, before you head to Tips tonight, hit the Save Our Lake event featuring local artist, Tuna’s, new collection, at Ritz Carlton’s Davenport Lounge on Canal St., from 5:30 – 8:30 p.m. Saints players, Zach Streif and Mike McKenzie, will be celeb bartending and proceeds from every piece of art sold will go to fund coastal restoration projects.
