Tibetan Monks Are In Houston

Watch an ancient form of artwork, live, when Tibetan monks from Drepung Loseling Monastery visit Houston.

Asia Society
1370 Southmore Blvd.

Your bright tassel earring game has been on point this summer.

Learn from other masters of color when Tibetan monks painstakingly create a gorgeous mandala sand painting live at Asia Society beginning TODAY. Using a centuries-old technique and a reverence and respect that few people ever get the privilege to watch, you'll be mesmerized to see the men work in silence creating a piece of temporary art with millions of grains of colored sand. (The same practice was once featured in House of Cards.) On Saturday from 12 - 4 p.m. you can try your hand on a public mandala. Watch the opening ceremony, complete with chanting, live streaming now.
