Once you’re known for something — a nickname from school, a catch phrase (cool beans), the tendency to dance drunk at the office Christmas party — it’s hard to shake the rep.
But if you do it right, the switch can happen seamlessly, as is the case with Jackson Restaurant. The doors had been closed for three years, until the new owners re-opened this joint with a delish bang—a new chef, a new menu, a new look. Here you’ll find the intersection of old-school New Orleans eats and new-era twists like Cajun scallop salad and mussels paired with truffle fries.

As for the dancing queen fiasco of 2008, try to lay off the sauce so your co-workers will remove you from their egg-nog blog.
